Our mom, now 64, has spent her entire life caring for us—her five children—as a single mother, always putting our needs before her own. Now, she’s facing the fight of her life against an incredibly rare and aggressive cancer: stage IV sclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma (SEF).

SEF is an extremely rare and difficult-to-treat form of soft tissue sarcoma, with very few documented cases. Because of its rarity, there is no well-established treatment protocol, making specialized care crucial. The cancer is also known for a high recurrence rate and often spreads to other areas of the body, making it even more challenging to treat.

Recently, our mom underwent an invasive surgery to remove a 5-pound tumor from her abdomen. While this was a significant step, her fight is far from over. She still faces a long and difficult road ahead, requiring ongoing treatments and expert medical guidance.

We just received a referral and recommendation to seek care at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, one of the leading institutions for sarcoma research and treatment. Their specialists have experience with rare cancers like SEF and offer innovative treatment options that could extend her life and improve her quality of life. However, we do not yet have an appointment scheduled, and we are actively looking into and applying for grants to help with the financial burden. Even with grants, there will still be many uncovered costs, including travel, lodging, medical expenses, and daily living costs.

We want to ensure that the rest of her life is as comfortable, fulfilling, and meaningful as possible. She is not only our mother but also a loving grandmother to her two beautiful grandchildren, who adore her. Every moment she has with them is precious, and we want to give her the best possible quality of life during this journey.

Unfortunately, the financial burden of this battle is overwhelming. Our mom recently had to quit her job due to her diagnosis and treatments, and the costs of medical expenses, travel to MD Anderson, daily living costs, and specialized treatments are adding up quickly.

We are raising funds to help cover these critical expenses so she can focus on healing without the added stress of financial hardship. She has always been our rock, and now she needs us more than ever.
