Hi everyone,
Our family is facing an incredibly difficult and unexpected Christmas season, and we are asking for help to support our mom during this time.
On December 9th, our stepdad, Damon, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while driving. Since then, he has been in and out of the ICU, fighting hard every day as doctors work to stabilize him and support his recovery. While we remain hopeful and grateful for the incredible care he’s receiving, the uncertainty of this situation has been overwhelming for our entire family—especially for our mom.
Damon is the kind of person who shows up every day, no matter what. He loves our mom, his wife of 17 years. He loves his job as a USPS mail carrier, takes pride in serving his community, and never misses a chance to talk Dodgers baseball. But above all else, Damon’s greatest joy in life is being Grandpa to his three grandchildren. He adores them, brags about them endlessly, and lives for every moment he gets to spend with them.
Our mom has barely left his side, spending countless hours at the hospital, advocating for Damon, praying for him, and holding onto hope through every setback. In the midst of the emotional toll of nearly losing her husband, she is also facing time away from work, mounting medical expenses, and the everyday bills that continue despite everything else being on hold.
This fundraiser is meant to ease some of that financial pressure so our mom can focus on what truly matters right now: being present for Damon and taking care of herself during this exhausting and frightening time. Because Damon is a federal employee, he is unable to take advantage of state disability while he is unable to work. This puts our mom in a very tough position. She is faced with wanting to be with Damon as much as possible to advocate for him, but she is solely responsible at this time for all of their regular bills and expenses on her income alone.
Any contribution—big or small—will help cover living expenses, hospital-related costs, meals, and the many unexpected expenses that come with a prolonged and unpredictable hospital stay. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page or keeping our family in your prayers would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, love, and support.
With gratitude,
The Davidson, Dimataris, and Marker families
