Support Our Mom After multiple Brain Surgeries
Donation protected
Hi, our names are Sasha & Tasha, and we are Kerry’s twin daughters. Our mother is a sweet, kind, and friendly woman who enjoys sharing and giving to make people smile. At her church Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale, she is known as “Ms. Butterscotch,” as she hands out butterscotch candies to anyone she speaks to in hopes of making their day. For many that know our mom, she has a great testimony of healing as to how she has come so far in her Christian faith and survived being told she would die with a malignant brain tumor that is inoperable while having two young girls to raise.
Kerry has had a VP shunt placed in her brain due to the tumor. Throughout the years, she has had revisions to her shunt and has had to recover. Each surgery has always been challenging for the family, but like the warrior she is, she has always overcome obstacles.
Unfortunately, on October 9, 2022, our mom got extremely sick, and her VP shunt needed to be replaced. Over the last few months, she has lost her ability to walk, talk, and use fine motor skills. We are grateful that she has regained some of her communication ability and is learning to use her fine motor skills again. Walking is the biggest obstacle, and she continues to struggle with mobility. Overall, It has been an “emotional rollercoaster” as we have gone through the ups of thinking our mom was on the road to recovery and making her way to rehab.
However, with the "ups" came more "downs." Our mom remains in the hospital for her 4th month in ICU, as she has an external shunt due to her shunt becoming infected. Once cleared, the new shunt will be replaced. Our mom will require extensive rehab and "around-the-clock" home health care. We love our mom dearly and want to be able to provide her with the best resources possible to aid in her recovery. In doing so, we are turning to friends, family, and anyone that cares to assist in our cause. We appreciate you taking the time to view our cause and value your support, thoughts, and prayers. God Bless!
