Support our Mission to Save More Dogs and secure a new home

Tax deductible
Hello. My name is Kerry. I am the founder of Colt's Rehab Rescue. We have been saving dogs for years under our training business and a year ago, with requests continuing and at a high, decided to open an official rescue.

How is Colt's Rehab Rescue different from other rescues? We typically take in dogs that have no other chance. They have been abused, neglected, under socialized or poorly bred. They may show signs of aggression, fearfulness, dog or people reactivity. They are carefully evaluated by myself and if it is believed these dogs can be rehabilitated, we agree to bring them in. Each dog goes through an extensive 4 week inboard train (or more) with our training business where we work on the dog's issues and build their confidence so they are well rounded dogs. If it was not for this rescue most of these dogs would have been put down.

The rescues are currently housed in a second unit in a commercial building that the training side of the business rents. We have some amazing supporters that help donate food and items we need and the training business does nail trims and fundraisers to help support these dogs. Sadly, it is just not enough to cover their care and housing needs.

We are grateful for the space to house them, so don't get us wrong, but there are key issues with how they are housed. There is no outdoor area for these dogs to play, run and be dogs. Some of the dogs with the issues they have when they come in, can't be handled by just anyone, so volunteers can't come walk them. Deep cleaning is challenging as there are no floor drains in the unit so we have to take each kennel outside, pressure wash it and bring it back in, and clean the floor and wall behind where the kennel goes. So it is a process.

So with that all being said, we have been looking for a property that has land, a house and possibly out buildings that can be converted. We have found a property that we think would be an amazing property for the dogs. Sadly, the banks do not want to touch the business side and definitely not the rescue as neither have been open 5 plus years. This property has a house and over 200 acres. We want to be able to help more dogs then we currently can. We want to be able to house dogs long term until they find their forever home and, while they are with us, give them the best. Some of the dogs we get surrendered are with us a year or more. We want to be able to hire people to assist with these dogs safely and in turn that will provide the capability to help more dogs (currently myself and my husband provide 90% of the care for these dogs).
I know there is a lot of land that maybe we don't need but with this plan comes the capability to be self-sufficient. We would have the training business, Rescue, and boarding all on the same property. We will have other activities like lure courses, outdoor fenced in areas to play with your dogs and the dogs in our care, hired help, each custom kennel for each dog would have an attached outdoor area and an amazing cleaning setup. Currently, besides the donations we currently get, Colt's Canine Club supports these dogs and their needs. Last year, the training business lost almost $90,000 in revenue as these dogs take up a paying clients spot, time training and taking care of each dog. Were they worth it? Absolutely! But in order to continue doing this something needs to change.

So, we are asking for donations to cover the cost of the land. With owning the land, we will then be able to get loans and grants for the buildings/fencing and everything else we need to get setup.

We know this is a tall ask! We are forever grateful for all the support we already receive but this would be amazing! All donations are tax deductible (if you need a receipt, please email [email redacted]) and you can be part of an amazing journey for this rescue.

Any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated! Every dollar helps. If you are unable to give at this time, can you also please share?
