This all started with a little bump the size of a pea on his right knee just before Christmas. When we went to his pediatrician we were referred to a hospital in Dallas and by then it had grown to about the size of a large marble from a marble play set. The X-rays and traits of the bump led them to believe it was only a ganglion cyst which is benign and often goes away on its own. However, instead of going away it kept growing in size until getting to about the size of a golf ball. I became worried when he was trying to bite it so I took him to the ER in our home town and they regretfully informed me they couldn’t do anything and recommended rescheduling our next appointment in Dallas sooner. Thinking it was just going to need to be drained we did just that and our rough ride began. We ended up being sent through the pediatric er for MRIs and the rounds of testing began. Ultimately it turned out our little boy has undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma via a cancerous tumor on his knee. Three surgeries later the tumor has been removed and they were able to close the wound without doing a skin graft from a different area. However, we are still waiting on results from pathology to narrow down exactly what cancer he has and what the follow-up treatments for him will be. We have been in the hospital going on a little over two weeks now and this has put a strain on our funds. Anything donated will be put to use in ensuring we can travel back and forth for his treatments and stay ahead on basic necessities. It is much appreciated and much love and light to everyone.
