Support our little hero Cyrus and his family

A week ago, Iliya and Vivian were packing up their home and looking for a rental like so many others. This week their lives were turned upside down with a phone call from China where their little son Cyrus, had just arrived with his grandmother. He was admitted to hospital after becoming unwell, and was diagnosed with a tumour on his kidney which was so large it was pressing on other organs and his heart.

Three specialists said it was too risky to operate. Incredibly, miracles happened, and Vivian was able to fly to China and bring him home overnight. During that flight he was so frail she thought they would have to break the flight at Melbourne and go straight to hospital. But was able to get on to an earlier flight to Adelaide and literally ran with Cyrus in her arms to Iliya and drove straight to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide. Within 24 hours he had a high risk but necessary biopsy on the 19cm tumour and diagnosed as Wilms cancer. This can be treated with chemotherapy which was started within hours. Cyrus will have between 6 to 12 months of treatment although that will depend on how his body responds to the chemo and surgery and this will impact on all of them.

We are reaching out with so much love for Iliya and Vivian who are now facing tremendous emotional and financial challenges.

Many people have been praying for this precious couple and both of their children. Cyrus’s sister, tiny Esther, of course at one year old cannot understand what is going on. Iliya has his own small business which will be difficult to sustain right now. They are so very grateful for people praying and the support given.
