Hi There!
My name is Sofia Sanchez and I am an advisory teacher at High Tech High San Diego. This year, my advisory class and one other group are planning on visiting the University of Southern California for college day. The trip will cost $100 per student for transportation, food, and entertainment. Under the California Constitution, Article IX, Section 5, California schools cannot ask students to pay for their participation in any sort of educational activity--we can only ask for donations. Because of this, it can be a barrier for students to get to experience the amazing opportunities that our school has to offer.
Last year, the students stayed in San Diego and were able to visit SDSU and UCSD. As 10th graders now, I would love to be able to take them outside of San Diego County for an engaging, informative, and (ultimately) fun college trip. For these reasons and more, please consider donating to our GoFundMe.
PS. All extra funds donated will be saved for next year’s Bay Area trip!
