I am expecting a baby, and this journey has inspired me to be as earth-conscious as possible. Instead of buying new, I’ve gathered everything we need for our little one through Facebook Marketplace and thrift stores, and used gifts. It’s been a beautiful way to honor the environment and save money, and I’m grateful for the support and encouragement from friends and family along the way.

When it’s time to welcome our baby, I’m inviting loved ones to light a candle and send powerful energy as we bring this new soul earthside. The fire is the spark of all life force, and lighting a candle is a way to invite in strength, love, and community. We are stronger together, and your presence—whether near or far—means so much to us.

Birthing with a midwife means I get to welcome my baby in the sacred space of my own home, surrounded by love, safety, and familiarity. After my first birth ended up in a hospital, I deeply felt how different that environment was. This time, I want a natural birth guided by a midwife, free from doctors and bright hospital rooms, with my loved ones close, and my son present. Home is where my body feels safest, and where this birth can be honored as the sacred experience it truly is. (I’d like to honor that everyone’s journey is different, this is my faith in mine.)

Because we’ve been very environmentally conscious, we’ve been gathering everything we need for baby through Facebook Marketplace and thrift stores — so we truly don’t need baby items.
