community,
We’re reaching out during a moment of deep transition and healing. We are a queer couple—she’s a trans woman, and I’m non-binary—and both of us are currently navigating significant medical challenges that have aligned at the same time.
She recently had to undergo an emergency top surgery revision due to complications that were affecting her ability to move freely and causing constant, intense pain. The implant was placed under the muscle, this push the implant to migrate up, towards the shoulder and encapsulated. and had begun to interfere with her daily life in a serious way. Thankfully, the surgery was approved quickly through her insurance, but we are now preparing to face the upcoming costs of care and recovery.
On my end, I’m scheduled to have hip surgery on May 20. A cancer tumor, which began growing years ago, has now reached the point where surgery is essential. And although I had the referral over 1year ago just until now I’ve been approved and able to move forward with the procedure through Cook County Health, but since I don’t have insurance, I’m responsible for co-pays, medication, and recovery costs out of pocket.
We are reaching to our community because while we continue to move forward with love and resilience, we also recognize that sometimes is hard to heal alone.
We are looking to raise $2,000 to help cover:
* Medical bills related to both surgeries
* Medication and healing supplies
* Some assistance with basic living costs while we take time to recover
We are artists, we are hard workers, and we are grounded in care. If you feel moved to contribute, share, or simply send good energy our way, we deeply appreciate it. Every bit helps, and we receive it with gratitude and respect.
