Glory to God – our parish has found a home! Please help us make it ready for worship.
We are an Orthodox Christian Mission Parish in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, located in the Arizona desert near St. Anthony’s Monastery. As the only Greek Orthodox parish in Pinal County, our church is a vital spiritual home for families across the region.
Founded in 2021, our mission has grown rapidly. What began with humble services in our priest’s home has blossomed into a thriving community of more than 200 parishioners attending Divine Liturgy each Sunday – with even more gathering on major feast days. It is truly inspiring and astounding to see our parish bursting with children and families; our community is a beautiful mix of cultures and backgrounds coming together to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Over the past several years, we have worshiped as nomads wherever doors were opened to us: homes, hotels, the American Legion, restaurants, and more. Through God’s grace, we were able to purchase a building in downtown Florence to become our long-term parish home. Through the sacrifice, generosity, and many volunteer hours of our dedicated parishioners, we have already remodeled the newer half of the building, which has allowed us to begin holding services on occasion and provide space for limited gatherings. However, this area does not fully accommodate the needs of our growing parish.
The other half of the building – built in the 1960s – remains in its original condition and requires significant updates before it can be safely occupied. These renovations include electrical rewiring, remodeling the restrooms by adding stalls to accommodate our growing congregation, removing the drop ceiling and raising the ceiling to its natural height, and removing a dividing wall between two large rooms forming our nave. Only once this work is complete will we be able to more fully open the doors of our parish home to all who seek Christ here.
With prayerful hearts, we are asking for your prayers and inviting your financial support so that this house of God may be readied for worship, fellowship, religious education, and outreach ministries. Every contribution brings us a step closer to answering the prayers of so many faithful who long for the presence of an Orthodox Parish in this community.
Together, let us build up the Body of Christ in Pinal County, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls!
