Support our good friend Joel and his family

Donation protected
FEB 2022 UPDATE: Joel, Danielle & James are back in SoCal close to family and friends as Joel continues his care at CNS (Centre for Neuro Skills). While Joel is inpatient at CNS, Danielle is preparing the home with safety modifications and arranging care for James. They are evaluating a possible in-home treatment following CNS (something similar to Rehab Without Walls) and looking forward to continuing Joel's healing journey. There are many unknown costs at this time, but they are hopeful that disability will be approved soon.  Danielle is preparing to go back to work soon and is thankful for all your support which has helped alleviate some of the incredible stress associated with managing recovery expenses and caring for Joel and James. THANK YOU!

Due to an absolute necessity right now, we have started a Go Fund Me page for our beloved friend, union brother and new father, JOEL AIELLO and his family.  Joel suffered a stroke due to COVID related symptoms in August 2021 and his family is in need of your help right now.

Joel Aiello has been a dedicated member of Local 44 for over 27 years and has worked with hundreds of union brothers and sisters in 44, 80, 724, 729 and many other Locals as everything from a Propmaker to a Construction Coordinator, and most recently as Set Dec Prop Shop Foreman on "The Mandalorian" and spin-off "The Book of Boba Fett”.  Joel has also brought into 44, 724 and 729 many members when Locals were at ‘permit status’ allowing dozens of deserving people their first, real opportunity to join their trade-specific Locals.  Joel has been a generous, kind and understanding 44 Foreman and Coordinator for his entire career

After 50 days in the ICU, his survival has been nothing short of a God-gifted miracle.  However, the expenses related to his life-saving medical care has taken an incredible toll on Joel’s family.  His amazing wife Danielle, has transitioned Joel into 'intensive acute brain rehabilitation' in Denver for what has been the start of a long and ongoing road to recovery.  Danielle is at the recovery facility all day, every day since Joel’s injury, but this dedication requires her to have full time care for their new little boy James, who is just 16 months old.

The need of this Go Fund Me page is great.  In order to properly care for Joel and ensure his recovery stays on track so he can return to being a father, Danielle has been forced to take unpaid leave from her job since last August, 2021, and we are hopeful that she will return to work soon.  And, as you may have seen in the news, California Social Disability Insurance (SDI) has been frozen since October 2021 and Joel and Danielle have received no California State benefits or income whatsoever since August 2021 when Joel experienced his unexpected brain injury.  The funds raised here will go to support their family and their ongoing critical medical expenses and required home modifications to ensure a safe home environment for Joel, James and Danielle.

To know Joel is to love him.  Over the past six months, Joel has overcome the most incredible odds one can imagine, and his resilience, determination, dignity and ability to make a remarkable recovery so far is no surprise to those who know and love him.  Our IA community ALWAYS rises to the occasion to support our brothers and sisters in times of real need, and we are asking for your help to support JOEL AIELLO and his family right now.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and contributions to Joel and his family.  If you are unable to make a donation, please find it in your heart to share the information above and the Go Fund Me page link on your Social Media sites and with other IA members so we can help make an impact to this beautiful and deserving family.
