We are shocked and devastated by the sudden passing of John Bel on February 12th, 2025 at the young age of 44. A beloved son, brother, partner, and friend to so many, John was an integral part of the New Orleans community, with a passion for bringing joy to people through the city’s culture and food. If you met John, you would quickly learn exactly where you had to go eat - if not a place where he was cooking or, if you were lucky, his own kitchen.

John is survived by his loving parents, two sisters, his two cats Casper and Rizzo, and his devoted partner of 23 years, Sean Neary. While Sean grapples with this monumental loss—we’d like to raise some money to support him through this time. Any contribution, big or small, would be greatly appreciated to help Sean and the rest of his community celebrate John’s life with dignity and honor and make the already painful weeks and months ahead a little easier.
