Support our Friend Mohammed and His Family in Gaza

We are urgently asking for financial support for our friend Mohammed’s family. Mohammed has dedicated his life to helping others, he works for a charity that serves refugees in Canada, using his professional and lived experience to help refugee claimants develop new lives.

About Mohammed’s family in Gaza:

Mohammed’s mother, two young brothers, adult brother, and sister-in-law are in Gaza. They have lost everything. Their home was completely destroyed in an air strike in October 2023. They have lost all of their belongings, including valuables and some emergency savings. For over a year now they have been moving around, finding shelter where they can amidst the ongoing violence with no access to basic necessities like food, clean water, or medical care.

About Mohammed’s father’s surgery:

Mohammed's father and his middle brother had traveled to Jordan for medical treatment before October 2023 and were separated from the rest of the family. Being apart while their family is displaced and in danger caused Mohammed’s father to suffer a heart attack; during the heart surgery he went on to have a stroke which has left him unable to speak and caused memory loss. He urgently needs extensive physical rehabilitation to regain his health.

Funds raised through this campaign:

The funds will go directly to three critical areas:

1. Sustaining life and evacuation of Mohammed's family in Gaza

Mohammed's family needs financial support for food, shelter, and other essentials just to survive in Gaza as resources are scarce and prices have skyrocketed. They also need funds to help with evacuation. The goal is to raise $50,000.

2. Medical care for Mohammed's father

Mohammed’s father’s condition is urgent and dire, the surgery bill is outstanding and rehabilitation to restore his speech and cognitive function along with ongoing medical expenses need immediate attention and help. The goal is to raise $20,000.

3. Mohammed’s family's reunification in Canada

Costs for family reunification with the rest of Mohammed’s family if/when they are approved to come to Canada. This would include travel, flights, housing, clothing, medical care, legal costs, etc. The goal is to raise $5,000.

Total of this campaign is to raise $75,000. Please be aware that things change quickly in a crisis situation. Gaza is enduring unimaginable suffering, and families like Mohammed's are facing an uncertain future.

If the family is unable to come to Canada the funds will be used to help the family rebuild their life in Gaza. This would include necessary expenses like housing, furnishings, clothing, and medical care.
