HELP OUR FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE KARAMA FLEE GAZA

Karama has been working with us as an Arabic teacher for many years. She has taught hundreds of students with passion and kindness, while demonstrating the steadfastness and dignity of the Palestinian people through her lessons and her work.

Due to the horrifying, genocidal attack that Israel has unleashed against people trapped in the Gaza Strip, she and her family were in an extremely dangerous and precarious situation. Along with all other people in Gaza, she experienced loss, displacement and lack of food and water.

As the conditions in Gaza are worsening day by day, Karama together with her sister, was forced to evacuate to Egypt. Sadly, the expenses to obtain permits to leave Gaza and the crossing fees required at the border in Rafah for both of them were extremely high.

As her friends and colleagues, we launched this fundraising to send her some financial support that enabled her and her family to survive this desperate situation and go to a safer place. In the last few weeks many of us have been feeling impotent and hopeless, but people like Karama and the Palestinians she loves in Gaza inspire us to keep struggling for a better world.

Thanks to your generosity Karama and her sister were able to leave Gaza and they are now in Egypt. However, they are left with nothing, still needing to pay half of their crossing fee (6500£). They need our support to be able to access food and shelter and to reunite with their scattered family.
