Support Soccer Classes for Lahaina Kids
Donation protected
Aloha,
I am Coach Tom Creagh, founder of Keiki Soccer Pros on Maui. We have been inspiring and teaching Keiki (kids) soccer for the past 12 years, serving Keiki ages 2 to 11.
25% of our soccer families are in Lahaina, and nearly all have been impacted by the Aug 8 fires that devastated our community. Many families lost everything. We lost two locations where we hold soccer classes. Sadly one location burned down completely, but thankfully the Pastor and his family made it out and are safe.
We promised our Lahaina players who have been impacted by the fires, free soccer classes for the upcoming fall season. We found a location on the West Side that is far enough from the burn zone, to host these soccer classes. We run soccer all year round (in 8 week blocks) and we want to be able to see our players again. We miss them terribly and want to provide them with a little fun, a little routine, and time to play with their friends again in a safe place. We want their parents to see them running and laughing again.
Lahaina, and all of Maui, is a strong, aloha-filled community. It's going to be a long road for these families, bouncing from shelters, to temporary housing, to more long term housing before finally being able to rebuild their homes. We anticipate needing to provide free soccer for at least one year to players impacted by the fires. As a small family soccer business, we can only afford to cover costs for one free season for these kids.
The normal cost for one player to play for 8 weeks is $155. This fee covers all the soccer equipment (soccer balls, cones, nets etc.), a soccer shirt, insurance, taxes, and coach wages. Our coaches are all trained professionals. We are struggling since the fires as our local economy has screeched to a halt.
Before the fire, we had approximately 80 players enrolled for Lahaina soccer classes. The cost to provide soccer lessons and games to them for one year (5 seasons) is $62,000. We are sponsoring the first season for players impacted by the fires, and are asking for donations to help us cover their soccer tuition for the upcoming season (shortened to 6 weeks $115 x 80 players = $9200). If we are able to raise more than that, we can sponsor more players beyond the winter season. We would love to be able to offer no cost soccer to Lahaina kids for an entire year.

Mahalo (thank you) to everyone near and far who have sent donations, aid, love and prayers to our beautiful island community. We are one 'ohana!
With Much Aloha,
Coach Tom
