About us:
Hi! My name is Téa Rainbow, and I am a student at BOA Stage and Screen, working alongside Jack Duffy to create our final project before beginning university.
PICK UP is a project that we have had full control over creating, and we have chosen to bring an idea that I wrote for my GCSE English Language to life. I am extremely grateful to have the chance to make this with such an amazing crew and cast, and with your help we can create what I have been planning since 2022.
I find that a lot of my passion is within exploring both the flaws and qualities of each individual character and their relationships with each other in the strange, unusual situation that they have got themselves into. When creating a short film, getting the audience to fully understand a character often comes within the props, costumes and set design.
As young, up and coming filmmakers, we’re dedicated to created something truly special – however we can’t do this without you! Even a small contribution will help us turn our vision into reality.
As a gesture of our appreciation, all donors will be acknowledged in the film's credits, recognizing them as key contributors to bringing this project to life.
'PICK UP' and its meaning:
‘On the way to visit her boyfriend, a heartbroken yet determined young woman hails a taxi, unaware that the driver is her boyfriend’s father - after an intense car journey and a chilling phone call, the driver realises his son is in danger.’
PICK UP is a short thriller focusing on telling stories of difficult relationships – with both family and romantic partners. The story follows Daisy, the heartbroken young woman currently going through a tough relationship, and how she manages to change the life of her taxi driver, Thomas, by a simple phone call with his son, Tyler.
The film is inspired by other movies such as Last Night in Soho, MAXXXINE, and of course, Taxi Driver, so if you love suspenseful, psychological thrillers with a strong female main character, this film is definitely for you!
My crew and I are insanely enthusiastic about this project and are so excited to share this with you and make it a reality. With your help, we can make PICK UP the best version of itself.
