Hi friends :)
We are heading down to the Eastern Philippines to film a documentary about Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)!
The film will focus on the efforts of the World Wildlife Fund to involve local coastal communities in protecting the biodiverse waters of Negros Occidental and Northern Palawan. In the run-up to protect 30% of waters in the Philippines by 2030, community-based conservation remains the brightest path forward, and boosting the stories of those involved is a high-priority.
This film will accompany a research-based policy paper produced by the Oxford University's Climate (In)Security Project, ensuring community-led ocean protection is heard at the highest levels of decision-making.
Our goal is to present the film with Oxford to the UK Parliament by the end of the summer to shape conversations around ocean biodiversity. We hope that, with this film as a tool for policymakers, they will have further motivation to boost the establishment of locally-managed Marine Protected Areas in countries such as the Philippines.
