Memento Pictures and Dunsinane Productions are pooling talent! We are raising money to bring I’m Feeling Fine - a powerful, evocative, original short screenplay about the ways we deal with grief - to film. Your support will help us cover essential production costs, including locations, equipment, transportation, catering, design, and the other financial realities of shooting a great film.
SYNOPSIS
What would you do if someone close to you passed away? If you had the choice to remove all feelings of grief with the Snap of a finger, would you do it? Our story follows a man bereaved of his wife who decides to pay for a surgery to remove all of his past feelings for her to help cope.
He begins to realise that this was a mistake, but has to now come to terms with the consequences of his actions...
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
This film dives headfirst into the chaos of grief - raw, unfiltered, and unafraid. It’s messy, overwhelming, and deeply human. Through this story, we want to explore the weight of loss and the quiet spaces it leaves behind.
Everyone knows what it means to lose someone they love. That universal ache drives the central question of the film: is it better to hold on to the pain and the memories, or let go and live without either?
Visually, the film leans into absence with compositions shaped by negative space, and lingering frames that breathe with silence. Sonically, we’ll weave in an intimate soundscape, where the rhythm of beating hearts and the echoes of painful actions make the audience feel the weight of each moment.
At its core, this film is about connection. By putting pain and grief at the forefront, we want to reach into the audience’s chest and squeeze - a reminder that none of us are truly alone in these feelings.
WRITER'S STATEMENT
Have you ever loved someone so much that it hurts?
I’m Feeling Fine is a drama about the nature of suffering and pain and whether these things, while difficult, are what make our relationships important and valuable.
Grief perseveres - but what if it could go away? What if you could lose that longing? I’m Feeling Fine focuses on that choice, that opportunity to take away the ache and start to rebuild your life. But, our lead Colin soon learns that a life without longing isn’t much of a life at all.
Drawing inspiration from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Black Mirror, I’m Feeling Fine is about what it means to be human - how and why we connect with each other and how those connections make us who we are.
WHERE YOU CAN HELP
Compensating Cast and Crew
We want the cast and crew, both experienced and first timers, to be able to have the boasting rights that they have been on a set where they have been fully appreciated for their contributions (even if it is a small amount!). We want to encourage everyone involved in their pursuit of a career in the film industry! As of right now, they are volunteering, but they deserve to be compensated for their time and expertise.
Props, Wardrobe, and Locations
Through the generosity of the Meadows Tap, we have the use of a local bar, but we are also looking to source lighting and sound equipment to be used on set, and to find a doctor's office for one of our scenes. Could you donate to our creative cause to help us source these?
Production and Post-Production Equipment
Filmmaking requires the right tools to explore deep-cutting topics such as this. We need to edit the film to make it as high of a standard as possible. We want to share with you a polished, cinematic final version, which includes color grading, sound mixing, and impeccable editing.
Film Festival Submissions
I'm Feeling Fine will be doing a film festival run upon completion. Help us to be able to send our film out to as many of these as possible so it can reach a much wider audience!
