SYNOPSIS
ROSA is a photography student living in Edinburgh. She views life through a lens, one
step removed from reality. This habit is complicated by her compulsion to photograph
people unknowingly – a desire even she doesn’t fully understand.
The primary object of Rosa’s fascination is VERA, another woman who happens to be an amateur boxer. In an attempt to pursue this obsession further, Rosa requests to
photograph a fight night she expects Vera to take part in. However, she is
informed that she can only photograph the training sessions if she agrees to compete in the event, which she does.
As Rosa’s voyeuristic desires grow, she must resolve whether or not to continue feeding them. Regardless, the question remains, will she be caught? What will be the
consequences of her actions? The answer can only be found in one place: the ring.

WRITER'S STATEMENT
Butterfly on the Wall is a drama about an individual’s struggle with their own impulses.
It’s about what happens when one encounters an erotic desire that even they don’t
understand. More broadly, it’s about viewership and the space we put between ourselves and the world.
Somewhere between Peeping Tom, Rocky, and Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Butterfly on the Wall blends genres to form its own style. It asks its audience to sympathise with the
plight of its complicated protagonist. After all, is she really so different from the rest of
us.

WHERE YOU CAN HELP
Compensating Cast and Crew
We want the cast and crew, both experienced and first timers, to be able to have the boasting rights that they have been on a set where they have been fully appreciated for their contributions (even if it is a small amount!). We want to encourage everyone involved in their pursuit of a career in the film industry! As of right now, they are volunteering, but they deserve to be compensated for their time and expertise.

Props, Wardrobe and Locations
Through the generosity of Port O'Leith Boxing, we have the use of a local boxing gym, but we are also looking to source boxing equipment to be used on set and also to hire out a venue to create the environment of a boxing event with a crowd. Could you donate to our creative cause to help us source these?

Production and Post-Production Equipment
Filmmaking requires the right tools to capture boxing in all its beauty. We need to edit the film to make it as high of a standard as possible. We want to share with you a polished, cinematic final version, which includes color grading, sound mixing and impeccable editing.

Film Festival Submissions
Butterfly on the Wall will be doing a film festival run upon completion. Help us to be able to send our film out to as many of these as possible so it can reach a much wider audience!
