Our beloved daughter was born with immense challenges, having suffered two strokes, one on each side of her brain. She is non-verbal, unable to use her legs, and has limited control of one arm and hand, making her fully dependent on a wheelchair. She also experiences seizures, requiring constant care and supervision. Her mom is her dedicated full-time caregiver, teacher, and home nurse, while her dad works tirelessly to provide for our family’s basic needs. We have no extended family to lean on, and we face these challenges alone.
We urgently need a wheelchair-accessible van to safely transport our daughter to her frequent doctor appointments. The specialized modifications, like a ramp, make these vans incredibly expensive, and banks won’t loan beyond the base value of a van without these features. Both mom and dad have sustained injuries lifting her into our current vehicle, which lacks a ramp, making every trip physically taxing and unsafe.
With minimal external support and the uncertainty of potential changes to medical coverage, we’re struggling to afford this critical need. A wheelchair-accessible van would transform our lives, ensuring our daughter’s safety, easing our physical burden, and allowing us to focus on her care and well-being.
