When it rains it pours, and in our case the rain is medical expenses.

Specifically we need to pay for eye exams for three people; glasses for two people (possibly three); dental care for one person; and oral surgery for that same person.

We've had some unexpected expenses, both medical and otherwise, and have been struggling to get back on debt that we ran up during our child's health crisis a few years ago, where my husband and I both took unpaid leaves of absence for several months from work.

Our priority is my child's dental care - they need some corrective work, including surgery to have impacted wisdom teeth removed. The wisdom teeth are actively preventing other teeth from growing in.

After that's covered the next priority is my glasses. I'm having difficulty seeing with my very expensive glasses and need a new exam and new glasses, which will cost roughly $600 because I need the thinnest lens upgrade or I get warping along the edges of the glasses and they're too heavy for my face to support.

My husband also needs progressive lenses.

This is something that will massively impact our lives in a very beneficial way. I've started getting eye strain headaches and it's difficult to do my job, which involves a lot of looking at things and reading. Accuracy is a vital part of my work.

Any overages will go toward orthodontics for our child, who hasn't been able to finish their invisalign course because of chronic health issues, and whose teeth are crooked enough that they bite their own mouth as they eat or speak.
