My name is Rusty Blackwell, and I come to you with a heart heavy with hope and hands open for help. This is our family's journey through a storm we never saw coming.

Just over two years ago, my beloved wife, Chelsey, discovered what seemed like an innocuous sunspot beside her temple. It was small, unassuming, and like many, we brushed it aside. But as the days passed, this tiny mark began to cast a long shadow over our lives, growing rapidly into a noticeable blemish that we could no longer ignore.

With a sense of urgency, we sought medical advice, only to be met with dismissive reassurances. Yet, Chelsey's intuition whispered a dire warning, prompting us to push for further tests. That decision unveiled a truth that would forever alter our path—it was melanoma, the fiercest of foes in the realm of skin cancer.

The world around us turned into a whirlwind of hospital visits and surgical plans. On November 21st, 2022, Chelsey bravely faced surgery, believing it to be a brief detour back to normalcy. However, fate had penned a different script. The surgeons found more than they bargained for, and what was meant to be a simple procedure became a battle against an unseen enemy lurking beneath the surface.

Our hopes were dashed when, in September 2023, a swollen lymph node signaled a resurgence of the cancer. The PET scan results were a chilling reminder of the battle we faced, lighting up with the ferocity of an untamed fire. The subsequent surgery was a grueling ordeal, leaving Chelsey with 15 of 24 lymph nodes afflicted by the relentless spread of melanoma.

Now, as we stand on the precipice of a new year, our journey takes a daunting turn. Chelsey is set to embark on a rigorous regimen of immunotherapy and radiation, a testament to her unwavering spirit and determination to reclaim the life cancer has tried to steal from her.

We once believed we could weather this storm alone, but the reality of missed work, mounting bills, and the sheer magnitude of this fight have humbled us. We are reaching out to you, our community, our extended family, for support.
