Hi our names are Mia and Ekin. We’re writing with a heavy and broken heart
On December 19th, 2025, in San Diego, California, my father was taken into ICE custody during what was supposed to be a routine immigration appointment. He was asked to come in to review and sign paperwork, something he has done many times before. Instead of being allowed to return home to his family, my dad was detained by ICE.
This came as a complete shock to our family, and it feels as though the system we trusted and complied with for years has failed us.
My father has lived in the United States for over 30+ years. During that time, he has always followed every requirement asked of him. He never missed an appointment, complied with all instructions, and did everything the right way. He works two jobs to support our family and is a hardworking taxpayer who has dedicated his life to providing for us and building a life here.
More than anything, our dad is a loving husband and a devoted father to two
children. He has always put his family first. working long hours, making sacrifices, and doing everything he could to give us stability and security. Since his detention, our family has been left heartbroken and struggling to understand how this could happen.
My dad was able to contact us through collect calls from the facility where he is held in ICE custody, he is currently being transferred to a detention center where a conversation is something I will never forget. All he could do was apologize to our family. He kept blaming himself for what has happened, even though he has done everything he was asked to do. Hearing him carry that weight, knowing he cannot be here to protect or provide for us right now, has been incredibly painful.
My dad is the primary provider for our household. Since his detention, my mom has been suddenly overwhelmed, not only emotionally, but financially. Everything has fallen on her shoulders at once.
We are doing everything we can to fight for my father’s freedom and bring him back home where he belongs. Legal representation is critical, and there may also be a bond required for his release. The costs associated with legal fees and a possible bond are overwhelming for our family during this already devastating time.
Your contributions will help our family access what every family deserves—safety, stability, and the ability to fight for their rights.
Funds raised will go toward:
* Rent and utilities so our family can remain in our home
* Legal representation to challenge this detention and bring our father home
Any amount, no matter how small, makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping our family in your prayers.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, support, and compassion during the most difficult time of our lives.
