Help Us Honor Our Father’s Memory
On the night of November 16th, our dad suffered a sudden heart attack. Although the paramedics were able to bring him back, he was without oxygen for too long, causing severe damage to his brain. He was transferred to a hospital in Sacramento the next day, and we hoped endlessly for improvement.
On Wednesday, November 19th, another MRI confirmed what we feared most, the damage had actually worsened, and there was no hope for recovery. With heavy hearts, my sister Blaze and I, together with his wife Lisa, made the impossible decision to let him go. One thing we knew for certain was that our Daddy would want to help others, so we chose to donate his organs. In a way, that helped us choose the day we would remove him from life support. A decision I never thought I’d be able to make.
His Honor Walk was scheduled for Sunday, November 23rd. The turnout was incredible and deeply moving. Live bagpipes played as hospital staff and loved ones lined the halls. Several staff members told us they had never witnessed anything like it in all their years there.
At 6:24 pm, the doctors and nurses came in to remove Dad from the machines. My sister and I stayed with him. I held my breath for 14 minutes, staring at his face, knowing at any second he would take his last. At 6:38 pm, he was pronounced gone. They rushed him away for organ donation while I held my baby sister and repeated “bye, Daddy” over and over.
Losing him this way has shattered us. We were not prepared for the emotional or financial weight that comes after something like this. We are asking for help with the expenses that follow his passing anything from medical and end-of-life costs to giving him the memorial he deserves.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply keep our family in your thoughts, we are deeply grateful. Every bit of support means more than we can ever express.
We are planning a huge memorial, sometime in January. We would love for everyone who knew our Daddy to attend. Good family, good friends, good music, good food and even greater stories. We will keep everyone updated on this.
Thank you for helping us honor our father and carry his kindness forward.
