I organized this fundraiser for my family after a storm destroyed the roof of our home on August 16th. The beneficiary is my husband, Taras Yablonskyi, and the funds will be used for essential needs, personal items, and furniture as we rebuild our lives. We are deeply grateful for all your support. Friends, so many of you have written to me and offered your help. I kept postponing this moment, hoping we could manage on our own. But today, after speaking with the insurance company, we realized that we simply cannot cope by ourselves.

In our apartment building, the roof was torn off. At that moment, I was inside our apartment with my child, and part of the ceiling collapsed on us. Thank God, we only ended up with some bruises, but our apartment is badly damaged and uninhabitable now.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed back into the building — not even to try and save some of our belongings. We don’t know when we’ll be able to go inside. In the meantime, everything we owned is left there under the rain and the sun, getting soaked, molding, and ruined. In reality, we have lost absolutely everything.

We have been left without clothes, without belongings, without furniture. Now we need to find a new apartment to move into and start completely from scratch — from spoons and forks to a bed and all the basics.

The insurance will cover part of the costs, and we are trying to take on some ourselves, but the total amount is far too big, and we simply don’t have enough. That’s why I am asking for your support. Any financial help you can give will mean the world to us in this difficult time.
