Help Our Family After Car Theft

Hello! My name is Majeska. My friends and family usually call me Majjy. My little family consists of my husband, Jack, my five-year-old son...also named Jack, and our Shih-Tzu named Penny. We also just found out that we have a little one on the way! I work in Brea as a mobile dog groomer for a company that I absolutely love! My husband works in Huntington as a 3D printer miller which he also loves! While the adults are at work, my husband's mom has been generously taking care of our son and he cherishes his time at his grandma's house.

Getting to and from work has been easy-peasy for us! We have two vehicles which have been reliable. However, as luck would have it, our older vehicle, a 2001 PT Cruiser, has finally been taken out to pasture. The transmission and the power steering have failed and it is virtually not drivable.

Our other vehicle, which we just financed in November of 2023, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, was STOLEN from directly in front of our apartment A DAY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY! We were in shock.

This event has affected us in ways we never thought possible. Although the car was recovered, it has been stripped and it cannot be driven. To add insult to injury, it turns out our insurance made a mistake and did NOT include full coverage for this vehicle. This means all repairs will be out-of-pocket. What a devastating blow.

Needless to say, we have been working overtime to attempt to scrap together any kind of money to purchase a new vehicle and to fund repairs. How do we get to work though? Well, my husband's brother has been kind enough to lend us his vehicle when he is not using it. This is not sustainable long-term though. We hate to be a burden on him and we hate to take up his time borrowing his car.

This is where we decided crowdfunding may be best. We are asking for $5000 to purchase a used car to get us from point A to point B. Just the most basic transport!

Considering that our car was stolen from directly in front of our front door, we have installed a ring doorbell to look out over the carport. We are now paying a monthly subscription for the surveillance and hope to add a couple more cameras for safety. We are also planning to attach additional deterrents to our new vehicle to stop any attempted future thefts. We have also installed alarms on all of our doors and windows in our apartment just in case.

The emotional toll on our son is what is ultimately motivating me to start this crowdfunding as well. He has never experienced something like this and it has caused a great deal of anxiety in him. Every day, he asks if the police have caught the bad guys. He worries that there are bad guys lurking around every corner just waiting to commit crime. I really want to show him that the world is not completely scary and that there are good people out there who care about him.
