A recent visit to the emergency room changed how we see our healthcare system. As musicians, we wanted to help in the way we know best. We are organizing a fundraising concert to support Langley Community Health & Hospital Foundation.

The Meeks Duo, pianists Scott Meek and Clare Yuan, will be holding a fundraising concert on April 25th 2026 at 7:30PM for the Langley Memorial Hospital at the Rose Gellert Hall in Langley.

After a minor accident involving the neck, one of us experienced sudden dizziness, blurred vision, and nausea. When the symptoms didn’t improve, we went to the emergency department at Langley Memorial Hospital.

That night, we witnessed something we won’t forget: one doctor caring for an entire emergency department, with patients lining the hallway—every one of them genuinely unwell. The staff were calm, compassionate, and working beyond their limits, but the reality was clear: our ER is stretched thin.

After tests and a CT scan, we were relieved to learn the condition was not life-threatening. But the long wait wasn’t due to inefficiency—it was due to a lack of resources. Not enough beds, space, equipment, or staff to meet the growing needs of our community.
