Maria, our incredible Registered Nurse, has been part of the Earworx family since March 31st 2025. She was instrumental in setting up and growing our Kanwal clinic within Terry White Chemmart, where she has made a lasting difference in the lives of so many patients. Now, when she needs it most, it’s our turn to support her.

Maria now faces one of life’s toughest challenges: she has received a diagnosis of malignant breast cancer in both breasts, after attending her routine 2nd yearly mammogram. Maria has already endured a long surgery with a painful recovery, and has now been informed by her medical team that the original tumour was much larger than originally estimated, so therefore the surgery was unsuccessful, and the cancer has also started to spread. This now requires her to have at least 6 months of strong chemotherapy, further surgeries, radiation treatment, and then many years of oral chemotherapy medication to keep the tumours at bay.

Maria is not only a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse, caring for her patients every day with kindness and professionalism, when away from work, she takes on the caring role as a devoted daughter to her elderly Father, and is also a single Mother to her beautiful daughter Rachael.

Maria has spent the last few years having her parents move into her home, so she could provide them with daily care and support. Her very loved Mother sadly passed away from having an aggressive cancer in October last year. But Maria continues to care for her elderly Father in her home.

Maria’s 17-year-old Daughter Rachael has Down syndrome, Autism (Level 3), and is non-verbal, along with the chronic medical condition of Type 1 (Insulin Dependent) Diabetes. Due to Rachael’s intellectual disability, she is unable to manage her own diabetic and medical needs, so Maria manages all of that for her. And Rachael will always require this level of ongoing support in order to keep her healthy and alive.

As Maria begins her journey through her own gruelling medical treatment, including time away from work, and her ongoing family caring role, the financial and emotional pressures are significant. Balancing her own health while continuing to care for Rachael, her elderly Father, and now herself, is something no one should have to face alone.
