From Karin:
Dear Friends and Family,
Tanya shared the Go Fund me a few days ago when I visited her in New York City. She was there for a conference and I took the bus down from New Hampshire. We had lunch in a Thai restaurant and Tanya stopped the catch up chat and said she had “an announcement”. Of course this made me worried, but then she revealed the work she had been doing and the results of all the gifts from friends and family. Amazing!
It is overwhelming to feel the love and support of you all—during this time of uncertainty for me and our family. I appreciate each and every gift, but, more importantly, I cherish the thoughts and care you have given us. As you know, Luke, Finn, and Sofia are in their twenties and they are great kids. I wish they didn’t have to worry about me at this age, but they are strong and resilient and this gift will go a long way for us to do some really special things with them. Kurt is our steady force and he continues to work hard in his profession and spend lots of time with me at Dana Farber.
Just a health update: Metastatic Breast Cancer is not curable (yet!) but it is treatable. I go to Dana Farber every week for chemo, and I have scans every three months. My cancer is breast cancer that has spread to bones, liver, lungs, and brain, so I get weekly chemo, and radiation when those tumors start growing again. I am feeling good right now, and feel really good about my care at Dana Farber.
I miss work, I miss feeling “normal” and I hate worrying the people I love. But, I also feel incredibly grateful, supported, loved, and excited about each and every day.
I’m very very lucky, and I know it.
Thank you again, and LOTS of LOVE,
Karin

The response has been incredibly heart-warming! Due to this generous show of support, I have decided to raise the goal knowing there are likely more folks who wish to share their love and support. Thank you all so much!

At the risk of ticking her off, I am organizing a Go Fund Me for our dear friend Karin Clough (Weber). Many of you know that she is battling metastatic breast cancer, had to leave her job, has to travel to Boston for weekly treatments and is prioritizing her time with her kids (Luke, Finn and Sofia) and hubby Kurt at this time (who, as a rural equine vet, has to miss work frequently). The money we raise can help defer costs of healthcare, transportation, missed work and hopefully something fun like traveling to enjoy precious family time together.
No one wants pity when they find themselves in such dire straits, and this could not be more true for Karin, who would never initiate her own Go Fund Me because she knows that other people are also struggling with their own health and financial challenges. Stress and strain come with a terrible diagnosis like metastatic cancer, but Karin and Kurt remain remarkably positive and are working to live their best lives. If you know them well, this will come as no surprise.
If you share this with others, please let them know it is not Karin who is requesting this and at this time does not know about it. We can share our names in this go-fund me, and be in community with eachother! I had hoped we could add comments but am not seeing that option here!
Apologies if you already receive too many of these requests but if it provides you a way to show love and support to Karin, please join us. Any amount is helpful! It is tough to come up with a financial goal here but I am sure any amount will be much appreciated.
Thank you!
