There are no words for the heartbreak of hearing that your child has cancer. Our family recently learned that our beautiful 15 year old daughter, Lily, has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Lily is an amazing girl with the kindest heart. She is loving, strong, freaking hilarious, and literally full of life. She should be enjoying time with friends, making memories with family, and looking ahead to her future like any other teenager. Even in the middle of all of this, she continues to show so much courage and strength.

The very next day after getting the phone call from her doctor, I put in leave from my travel job and came straight home to be with her. There was never a question about it. Right now, being here for Lily and walking beside her through every appointment, treatment, and hospital visit is exactly where we need and want to be.

The months ahead will bring a new routine for our family as we focus on her care, her comfort, and helping her stay encouraged through everything in front of her.

We are opening this fundraiser to help with the practical needs that come with this, including her living situation, food, gas, car repairs for hospital travel, and the many day to day expenses along the way. We also want to make space for moments of happiness and normalcy for Lily, whether that means horseback riding, going to the beach, or simply doing things that let her enjoy being 15.

It is not easy for me to share something so personal, but Lily’s well being comes before anything else. More than anything, we want to keep our focus on loving her well, supporting her fully, and giving her as much comfort, strength, and joy as we can throughout this unexpected shift in life.
