Help support Our Daughter's Battle with PANDAS

Donation protected
update: I am blown away thank you all so much. I set the starting goal as 1000 just to cover the first couple appointments as a start. I had to set a goal and I have no idea how much everything will be (this is still so new to us). Any further donations will still help and be greatly appreciated. I opened a savings account yesterday and that’s where all the money will sit until we use it for appointments/treatment. Again, will be posting how the money is used when it’s used with receipts, invoices, etc! Full transparency

Hi there! On July 14th our lives got flipped upside down when our 6 year old daughter woke up with extreme ocd. She had no prior signs or symptoms of psych disorders. Just went 0-100. No ocd to extreme ocd overnight. Two days later I posted in her due date group asking if anyone had any advice or tips and someone said it sounded like PANDAS syndrome. It’s a neuropsych autoimmune disorder caused by strep throat. As soon as I started reading about it I just knew that’s what was happening. The next day I called her doctor and begged for a strep test even though she had no common symptoms (no fever, no sore throat, throat looked perfectly healthy). The strep test was positive. She was put on amoxicillin. 6 days later at her follow up we repeated the strep test which was negative. But the extreme ocd and behavior issues remain. On bad days she washes her hands close to 60 times an hour. On “good” days she washes 15-25 times an hour. Her hands are cracked and bleeding. She is having intrusive thoughts. “I said something bad in my head and I don’t know why. I’m scared” “did I spit? I think I spit on you” (she didn’t). She will cry and say “I don’t want to wash my hands but my brain is making me”. Sometimes she just cries and screams non stop. She has become antagonistic and violent (also common with PANDAS). Her pediatrician agrees it’s pandas. We are also seeing a PA who specializes in immunology and we have her first child psych appointment tomorrow. I have been trying to find her a neurologist but everyone that I call either doesn’t believe pandas is real or doesn’t take insurance. We want to get her in virtually with the pans/pandas institute in Nj but they do not take insurance. From calling around usually these visits are 4-500 dollars per visit. She is suffering and it’s heartbreaking. I hate asking for help but we have reached the point of desperation. Funds will be used for any appointments, medications, possible surgery (tonsillectomy is one of the treatments) etc. I will post receipts of how money is spent, however I’ve heard waitlists can be long.
