Support Our Dad’s Final Journey Home
We are urgently trying to bring our Dad home for his final days.
After a long battle with lung cancer, our Dad is now receiving palliative care. His final wish is to see his mother again, to be surrounded by family and to spend the time he has left at home, not in a hospital. To make that possible, he needs a specialist medical flight and equipment we cannot afford alone. We are asking for help to bring him home with dignity and love.

About Our Dad

Our Dad spent his life caring for others as a nurse, father to 4 children and husband of 30 years.

He was there for people in their most vulnerable moments. He is the kind of man who has always put others first. He has spent his life comforting and caring for those around him and he has never been someone who finds it easy to ask for help.

He is proud, kind and deeply loved by all of us.

After everything he has given to others, all we want now is to give something back to him: the chance to go home and be with his family.

The Reality of the Situation

Our Dad has been fighting lung cancer since 2023.

On 9 March, he was admitted to hospital after his condition had been deteriorating rapidly over a number of weeks. We were then told the devastating news that his cancer had metastasized and spread to his brain.

On 23 March, he underwent surgery to remove the tumour in his brain which that gave us hope that he might recover enough to come home.

But while we were waiting for him to recover, doctors found that the cancer had also spread to his spine. He then underwent another major surgery in an attempt to remove the tumours from his spine. Sadly, they were unable to remove all of the cancer.

On 7 April, further scans showed that the cancer had spread even more through his lungs and spine.

The surgeries have left our Dad paralysed from the hips down. He now has very limited sitting balance and cannot travel on a commercial flight.

He is now receiving palliative care. His cancer is aggressive and resistant to treatment and we have been told there are no further options left.

We are no longer fighting for more time. We are trying to make the time he has left as peaceful, meaningful and full of love as possible.

Why We’re Asking for Help

We are now in a race against time to bring our Dad home.

To travel safely, he needs a specialist medical repatriation flight with full medical support. This is the only way to get him home safely and comfortably in his condition. The cost of that flight, along with the equipment and care he will need, is far beyond what we can manage alone.

This is not something our Dad would ever ask for himself and it is not easy for us to ask either.

He does not want to spend his last days in a hospital. He wants to be home, with the people he loves, with dignity, comfort and peace.

We are asking for help to try and make that possible.

How the Funds Will Be Used

Any donation, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to bringing our Dad home.

Funds raised will go toward:

-a specialist medical repatriation flight with full medical support (quoted cost 25-35k)
-essential equipment such as a wheelchair and mechanical hoist
-additional care needed to keep him safe and comfortable during travel and on arrival home

Every share, donation and message of support means more than we can say.
