Abandoned in a Hospital Bed: Help Our Father Recover

Donation protected
Dear friends and compassionate strangers,

Our dad suffers from a seizure disorder and was just recovering from emergency open-heart surgery — when he was suddenly left alone in a hospital ICU with no support.

Not only that, but he had a gum infection that led the doctors to have to pull 7 of his teeth before his emergency surgery, so he will need implants or dentures.

He has epilepsy and PTSD. He was barely stable, in and out of the ICU still fighting for his life, when his wife made the choice to pack up and leave him in Tennessee to deal with this alone.

He has no one there to speak for him. No one to hold his hand. No family by his side during one of the scariest, most vulnerable moments of his life.

Now, he will be discharged with nowhere to go. He has no home, no income, and no transportation. And because of his seizures and medical needs, he can’t safely live alone.

Our family is doing everything we can — but we’re spread across different states and struggling to coordinate care and secure him a safe place to heal. We’re asking for help to bring him to safety and give him the dignity he deserves.

We’re raising funds to help cover:

  • Emergency transportation from Tennessee to Florida
  • Temporary housing until he can enter a place of his own
  • Transition into long-term care (he needs 24/7 monitoring due to epilepsy and recent heart surgery)
  • Prescriptions, copays, and medical expenses not covered by insurance
  • Dental work/ implants
  • Clothing, shoes, and hygiene essentials (he lost over 20 lbs in the hospital and has nothing that fits)
  • Support for our elderly grandmother, who is willing to take him in very temporarily but cannot care for him long-term

Who our dad is:

Our dad is one of the most compassionate people we know. He’s a survivor of a traumatic childhood, and despite everything he’s endured, he has always fought to keep his family together.

He once ran a successful web development business and even used his skills to give back — building a free website for Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that supports military families with housing and financial relief.

He’s the kind of dad who made Christmas feel magical, who brought us together for movie nights, gave us the best summer pool days, and who always found a way to give us joy, even when life was hard.

Life hasn’t been kind to him, but he’s never stopped trying to be kind to others.

Now, he needs us. And we’re doing everything we can to help — but we can’t do it alone.

If you can donate, share, or simply send love, you’ll be helping us give our dad a chance to recover with the care and dignity he deserves.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
