Support Our Cos - Lymphoma Medical Fund

Cosme Leal, known by most as Cos, was diagnosed with Stage IV Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma (AITL) on September 13 after months of illness, hospitalizations, and many rounds of testing. Many of you have asked how you can help this family. We are holding a Benefit Event called Support Our Cos on Saturday, October 15, where you will have many ways to donate. We have created this page for those of you who cannot make the event but would like to donate directly to the family’s medical fund.

Cosme began chemotherapy on Monday, September 26, and will undergo three days of chemotherapy every three weeks (for an unknown duration). Once chemo concludes, he will begin stem-cell replacement therapy, which requires a hospital stay of up to several months due to him being significantly immunocompromised during the treatment. Though he has medical insurance, the co-pays and out-of-pocket expenses will be very costly for this family. Cosme used all of his sick/vacation days during the beginning of his illness and the diagnosis phase. Now he is unable to work on the days he has chemotherapy, the days following treatment when he is feeling very sick from chemo, and during the time he is in the hospital for stem-cell treatment - this will mean very small paychecks for the family, in addition to the medical bills that will be coming in.

Cosme is a life-long resident of Maypearl, Texas. He is a husband, father to three wonderful young men, and grandfather to six beautiful grandchildren. Cosme and his wife, Robin, both work for Ellis County and are members of the First Baptist Church in Maypearl. They have given so generously to their communities, and now we have the opportunity to support them during this challenging time.

The Maypearl community has already done so much for this family. We know that not everyone can give monetarily, but please know that all your many acts of kindness are very appreciated... and your prayers are always welcome!
