On April 14th, 2026, an EF-2 tornado tore through our area, leaving a path of destruction. Our church was unfortunately impacted significantly by this natural disaster. You saw the damage on most local news stations within hours. In those same few hours, our community had already started to rally together. Many people reached out already to lend support and a helping hand.
Those who were not very local or could not physically help have encouraged us to start a GoFundMe campaign. To tell you the truth, we don't know the goal with which we should start. We have quotes still coming in and questions that are still unanswered. We have many timelines that are unclear. Plainly put, we have a feeling this will need updating a couple of times as the picture becomes a little clearer. We know that we need monetary support with clearing massive trees, landscaping afterwards, and parking lot repair when all the heavy machinery is eventually gone.
So many people have shared their personal stories with us! To most people, we have just always been there since they could remember. We have stood as a steadfast beacon of hope, the little white church on the hill since 1857. Many generations of families have walked through our building for Sunday services, weddings, funerals, youth groups, summer Bible school, our fundraiser dinners, our Living Nativity, or hosting CCOS events. It is wonderful to hear that we have meant so much to so many people.
Our mission remains the same: to support our local community as we can do so. We are worshipping Sundays alongside Christ Our Savior on Silver Spring Dr in Sussex. We are resilient. We are still here, and we will be back in our own church building soon.
Thank you in advance for your support. We appreciate you and your generosity.
