Last week, our community faced severe flooding that forced some schools to evacuate and all schools to release students early. As a parent to three kids in the district, I personally saw the dedication of our bus drivers. During the flood, our drivers worked together to get our students home safe and they stayed later to move the entire fleet of buses to higher ground at Cascade View Elementary.
While all of our drivers played a part in getting students home safely and protecting the buses, two of them suffered personal losses. Hans and Natalie had their cars caught in the floodwaters while they were working—one was severely damaged and the other was destroyed. These drivers put the needs of our children and community first.
I am raising funds to help these bus drivers recover from the flooding. The money will be divided between them to assist with repairs, cleaning, or replacing their vehicles. Our bus drivers get our kids home safely all year, and during this crisis, they went above and beyond. Please join me in showing our appreciation and offering a bit of assistance to these everyday heroes. Thank you!
