In Loving Memory of Our Mom and Her Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
UPDATE: It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother.
On Sunday, April 13th, Claudia Soneriu passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and in the presence of all three of her children—Alex, Christine, and Macgyver.
Our mother was a brave, caring, and deeply cherished woman. Her strength carried us through life’s hardest moments, and her kindness touched everyone who knew her. We loved her dearly and will continue to carry her memory in our hearts.
Her presence was a blessing, and her loss is profound.
At this time, we are planning services and would appreciate the continued support.
On January 1, 2024, Claudia Soneriu hoped for a new year of achievement and fulfillment and that the present be better than the past. As the year progressed, our mother’s health took a quiet turn. What started out as leg pain turned into being diagnosed with stage 4 metastasized cancer in November 2024 with no warning signs. Since being diagnosed, this aggressive cancer has spread exponentially and has led to 4 long-term hospitalizations, several surgeries, and has resulted in her currently being on life support.
We find ourselves in a time of great uncertainty and emotional strain, and though it’s hard to ask for help, we’re turning to our community for support. Friends, family, and strangers with good hearts, we ask that you support us along this devastating journey as we navigate this recent cancer diagnosis, medical expenses, and inevitable end of life costs to come. Our mother is currently battling the cancer, and any donation would go directly to her care, giving us peace of mind in knowing that we can provide for her even a fraction of the comfort she has provided for us. We’re so grateful for any assistance you can provide.
About our mom, Claudia:
Over the last 63 years, our mother has been a constant beacon of resiliency and resourcefulness. No matter the issue, there was seldom a problem she couldn't research and find a solution to. Throughout her life, she has made constant sacrifices for those she loves, often making sacrifices we didn't learn about until much later, and used her research and knowledge to help us through problems we sometimes didn't know we were going to have yet.
She could just as easily tell you about the development of polyhydroxyalkanoates as a biodegradable alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics as she could help find scholarships for her children or explaining 10 different uses of onions as a home remedy. All it took was a question and she would either already know or find the answer for us.
Throughout her entire life, she has continued to support us despite any challenges life threw her way, and share her knowledge with us, even after her diagnosis. She's asked and answered hard questions with a level of resolution that has made us stronger and admire her even more.
Right now, we don't have the answers, BUT we know better than to stop looking for the solutions and we know we have to ask the hard questions and reach out for support.
This fundraiser is for the explicit purpose of helping our mother with medical bills, moving her out of her apartment, and any end-of-life care that may pop up including but not limited to funeral and memorial expenses. Donations are considered personal gifts and are not tax-deductible.
