Support Our Baby's Fight for Life

Donation protected
**Update 9/24/24

Hi Everyone,
We are extremely devastated to announce the loss of our son Declan. The doctors and nurses tried everything they could, although unfortunately he lost his fight on September 10th due to complications that stemmed from his kidney and liver failure. We wanted to come here and show our appreciation, gratitude and love to all of you who have donated and shown our family so much support during this time. You have helped us so much, and most importantly gave us the ability to spend the month in New York City with our baby throughout his hospital stay. We will never forget each and every one of you. We truly can’t thank you all enough and it warms our hearts to see a community come together for others during a time like this.

Update on Declan
Hi everyone!
Declan remains in critical condition in the ICU, but his amazing doctors & nurses who are working around the clock have not given up yet. Some of his liver levels were looking a little better/ more stable this morning, so we were grateful for this. They continue to tell us he is still very sick but any type of progress we will take. Overall, he is not currently looking worse and is stable (although this can change at anytime ) it is a big win for someone so sick. We are doing our best to stay strong for our son & remain extremely grateful for all of your love and support & giving us resources so that we can spend this time with Declan.

**UPDATE 8/29/24**

Hi everyone, just wanted to give you all a quick update on baby Declan.
He continues to remain very ill in the ICU. He is in need of a liver transplant, unfortunately until that’s able to happen his heart needs to get stronger and his kidneys need to recover which is still looking tenuous. The drs continue to inform us that he is very ill, but we aren’t giving up on our little guy. We want to continue to say thank you to everyone for the positivity, support, donations and prayers for our son.

**UPDATE **
Hi everyone,
We wanted to give you an update on baby Declan.
Last night, he got taken off of the ECMO machine because his heart started pumping on its own again. Any little improvement has given us a glimpse of hope, but unfortunately his kidneys and liver still remain in failure, so he has been placed on a dialysis machine and remains very sick in the icu.
The doctors can’t give us many answers right now, as the situation could change in minutes or hours. Our only option is to wait and see how things progress.
We appreciate everyone’s immense support throughout this time and can’t thank you enough.
Just keeping his story out there gives us a sense of community and support system for Declan which gives us some peace during this time.

Since week twenty of our pregnancy, our baby was diagnosed with what the doctors thought was a very rare aneurysm on his ductus venosus.
Since then, we were told the baby was at risk of several possibilities and they weren’t sure of the outcome. We had to do testing, ultra sounds and more 2-3 times a week.
Our baby was born spontanously at 35 weeks at Albany medical center.
When he was born the drs quickly took him in for an ultra sound to help get a better picture of the aneurysm.
They found it was actually a large liver hemangioma that was highly vascular and they did not have the right resources so our baby was then air lifted in a helicopter to Columbia children’s hospital in nyc . There they came up with a surgical plan as the hemangioma was compromising other organs. We were told the surgery went successful, and were very excited. All to find later, he started crashing in the middle of the night from multiple organ failure.
We were told our baby had a high chance of death and our only option was a type of life support called ECMO, the machine comes with high risks but we had no time to even hear more about it as he was, and still is in a critical place.
We have been struggling financially, with all of our medical bills and finding places to stay being 3 hours from home, food, and being out of work trying to keep our baby alive and fighting for him. We highly appreciate any support during this time, prayers and wishes for our son.
