Dear Arlington County Family,
In times of both joy and sorrow, our bonds at Arlington and AFSCME transcend the workplace, evolving into a close-knit family. Today, we find ourselves at a crossroads where one of our own, Anthony Pistone, a cherished member of our labor family, is navigating the challenging path of loss. Recently, Anthony bid farewell to Shannon, his wife of 23 years (Shannon and Anthony are together on the left above). It is during these moments of hardship that the strength of our unity shines brightest.
Understanding the financial strains that accompany such circumstances, a group of Anthony's union brothers and sisters have come together with a heartfelt initiative. We aim to raise funds to support Anthony in shouldering the high expenses of this situation. This is an invitation extended not just to Arlington County colleagues and AFSCME brothers and sisters, but to friends, and anyone touched by the compassion that defines our work community. Every contribution, no matter the size, becomes a gesture of solidarity and empathy, reminding Anthony that he is not alone in facing the challenges that life presents.
Your participation in this endeavor goes beyond a simple donation; it is an expression of the compassion that defines us as a collective. Together, let us rally around Anthony, offering both financial assistance and the unwavering emotional support that makes us more than colleagues – it makes us a family. In sharing the burden, we demonstrate the true strength of our community and showcase the love and solidarity that binds us together in times of need.
With gratitude,
Erika Yalowitz, Jim Rodriguez, and Charlotte Malerich
