How It Started

After Trump's election Judy and Mykle knew tuning out was a bad idea. "How can we get more people to pay attention and take action on something that stresses them out?" From this, the Anti-Fascist Cabaret was born!

The first Anti-Fascist Cabaret premiered on April 17th in Brooklyn, New York, and it was a huge success! Talented actors and musicians performed hilarious political skits and songs, while expert speakers provided critical insights into Trump's machinations. The event brought people together to laugh at bullies, confront tough political realities, and inspire collective action.

Our Mission

Mykle and Judy have two simple goals:

1. Motivate those who oppose current political threats but feel overwhelmed. Link cabarets to concrete actions opposing the administration.

2. Expand the opposition tent. Even some who voted for Trump might be troubled by attacks on our constitution, healthcare, and economy. But do they know what’s really happening? We use humor, music, and beer to bring diverse crowds together, then educate them with expert speakers who deliver essential facts.

What's Next?

Our next cabaret will tackle urgent issues including cuts of

one trillion to Medicaid, and 500 billion to Medicare so billionaires get tax breaks. We will look at the horror of ICE violence and the loss of due process. We will offer strategies to save healthcare in New York and prevent ICE from forcing local law enforcement to do their bidding. Believe it or not, we will do this with humor, wit and theatricality. It's Political Cabaret and we mean to entertain.

We have a What the Cut show July 29th in Manhattan at Caveat theater. We hope to do more shows in Manhattan but we also want to focus energy on District 11, encompassing Bay Ridge and Staten Island. This is a swing district currently represented by Republican Nicole Malliotakis. Nicole voted for the Big Ugly Bill, though an estimated 75,000 of her constituents receive Medicaid in some form.

We'd like to ask her why but she hasn't had a town hall in over three years. Folks in her can be heard wondering aloud, "Where's Nicole?"

Nicole is a big reason we'd like to stage shows in Bay Ridge and Staten Island. The 2026 midterm election is not far away. Will her constituents know who is responsible when their clinics close and they are pushed off insurance or can't afford higher premiums and co-pays? We want to make sure they do.

Songs like "What I did for Trump", and skits featuring Nicole along with Lisa Murkowski and Jodi Ernst serve this goal. As do monologues about nursing homes and birthright citizenship and what it's like to try and get a doctor's appointment.

We present original music and as well as old standards that fit our themes. With great singers and a live accompanist this show lifts us at the same time it asks us to pay attention to whats going on. Our cabaret does not keep the world out, it brings it in. One thing's for sure the Trumper's give us plenty of material to riff on. It's important to laugh at the bullies as well as take action to oppose them. This is a long haul and we need to keep our spirits up!

The Anti-Fascist Cabaret is free (or close to free) for everyone to attend. Judy personally funded the first show ($1,200) and recovered half through donations. But Judy can’t keep funding these alone—she’s a social worker, not a hedge fund manager!

With your support, and donations collected from audiences, Mykle and Judy plan to produce MANY more shows free to the public (or very cheap). We have our eye on Staten Island, which is also part of Nicole's district. We also have requests to produce shows in Long Island, and to add more shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Every dollar helps us continue bringing vital political awareness, entertainment, and community engagement to neighborhoods that desperately need it.
