Support our Agroforestry

Donation protected
Hey, we here at Sota la Quinta in Catalonia are busy planting hundreds of trees to create an agroforestry system that is resilient in times of a warmer and drier climate. We have chosen trees that can tolerate drought – some for biomass and nitrogen fixations, others for crops. So far we have planted olives, Italian elders, tree hazel, walnuts and put in orders for paulownia, pomegranates and many more. To establish them, we have mulched the ground and interplanted with species such as lavender, comfrey, artemisia and many others. In the rows between, we will plant Sudan grass. We have also created a swale and tried to follow contour lines as much as possible. Our aim is to increase photosynthesis, sequester carbon and retain as much water as possible. If it works, it should also serve as an example of what you can still grow in changing conditions. All this was mostly done by amazing volunteers. Now, we want to expand this project but would need your help to buy more trees, mulch, seeds, tree guards and more. We would be grateful for your support!
