Support Our 2 Year Old Jace’s Brain Tumor Journey

Hi everyone, this is Riley and Jake. We’re parents to our sons Jace, who’s two years old, and our baby Theodore who’s almost 3 months old. We are asking our community for support as we are now in the most difficult season of our lives.

Jace is truly the happiest little boy who lights up every room he’s in and puts a smile on anyone’s face he meets.

Our son Jace had an MRI the day before Easter. We had waited over 9 months for this MRI, which was ordered due to his difficulties with balance and a larger head size. We had no idea we would receive a call just one hour later. We were told Jace has a brain tumor deep in his brain that was causing severe hydrocephalus, a condition where fluid builds up in the brain. This was absolutely devastating news; we truly believed we just had a big-headed, clumsy toddler.

Less than a week later, Jace underwent brain surgery to place a VP shunt to relieve the pressure and another to biopsy the tumor. Thankfully, the surgery went well and the shunt is working so far. Three weeks later, we still do not have the official biopsy results, which are needed to determine exactly what type of treatment he will receive. We also cannot apply for MaineCare or financial assistance without this official diagnosis.

What we do know is that his case has been reviewed by two of the best pediatric neurosurgeons in the world, and surgery to remove the tumor is not recommended due to its location. Jace will likely begin traditional chemotherapy or oral medication as soon as results are in. He will also have many MRIs, CT scans, oncology visits, as well as physical and occupational therapy appointments in his future.

We are asking if anyone is able to help by donating, sharing, or keeping Jace in your thoughts and prayers, we would be so incredibly grateful. Any donations would go towards Jace's care, transportation, medical expenses, and other household bills.

Due to the birth of our second son in February, Jake was on paternity leave for 6 weeks. He had only been back to work for one week before we learned of Jace's tumor and hydrocephalus. He’s missed several days of work since attending appointments and supporting Jace through his surgery. We also purchased a new home in September, which we have used our savings to renovate and are now facing financial strain.

Thank you for supporting Jace and helping us stay focused on what matters most, taking care of our sweet boy. We will continue to keep everyone updated on his journey, as we know he is loved by so many.
