Support Ostlyn’s Medical Expenses

I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my friend Angel. She is a single mom doing her best to manage her daughter Ostlyn’s ongoing medical care.

Ostlyn was first evaluated by a gastrointestinal specialist in Colorado Springs in November 2025, where doctors began a more in-depth search for answers to ongoing constipation/rashes after several attempts to correct at home. At that time, they recommended a contrast enema, along with testing for celiac disease and thyroid dysfunction, which both came back negative. The contrast enema, however, showed that her colon was significantly distended, leading to her first prescription medications to help manage her condition. She developed a rash believed to be related to a yeast infection/bacterial infection, and signs of limited appetite with a swollen belly which led to multiple ER visits that sent them home each time with oral antibiotics or prescription creams and multiple fleet enemas during their visits that were not successful. Each ER visit or Urgent Care visit they were sent home and told to follow up with the Specialist. Despite multiple attempts to adjust her medications, the combination of the rash and constipation symptoms worsened and resulted in a hospitalization in January 2026. Ostlyn was assessed by a wound care team for her rash as it was not a yeast infection/bacterial infection/typical diaper rash which they had been told for several months. It was suspected that her rash was due to the acidity of her stool and from the constipation. Ostlyn also had an NG tube placed due to her severe constipation to clear her intestines as her colon was distended and showed large amounts of stool that was unable to be cleared just by medication or enemas which was shown by an X-ray done in the ER. Before this hospitalization, Ostlyn was seen at AVRMC in La Junta where Angel was told she needed to increase activity around the home with Ostlyn and that was the cause of her constipation, as well as multiple visits to Pueblo West Urgent Care and Pueblo West ER where only enemas were administered and they were sent home. After the hospital stay, changes to medications and creams were made weekly as nothing helped relieve Ostlyn of her symptoms. Her specialist in Springs then recommended a referral to Denver to see a Neuro-Gastrointestinal Specialist where scheduling was a month out. In February 2026 Ostlyn was evaluated by the Denver specialist, OT, and PT with a more aggressive approach. This is where Colonic Dysmotility and Outlet Dysfunction were discussed as part of Ostlyn’s diagnosis. With this appointment there were more changes to daily medications and close monitoring and an order was placed for Anal Botox, Anorectal Manometry, and a Colon Biopsy which insurance could take up to 3 months for approval/denial. These procedures were ordered to be done all together due to Ostlyn’s medical trauma and require anesthesia. Anal Botox is injections into the anal sphincter to relax the muscles to allow stool to pass through the outlet. The anorectal manometry measures the strength, sensation, neural reflexes of muscles in the colon. The colon biopsy will rule out Short Segment Hirschsprung’s disease which is missing ganglion nerve cells in the large intestine that helps muscles relax to move stool throughout the colon and alert the body there is waste. These procedures will take place on 04/01/2026 at Denver Children’s, as insurance approved the procedures after a month and a half wait. Ostlyn had been hospitalized in March 2026 due to hypoglycemia, lethargy, vomiting, depleted stored electrolytes, constipation, and inability to eat/drink even while consistently taking her daily meds. She had the NG tube placed for another clean out, had her electrolytes changed from 5% to 10% solution, X-rays, blood work, potassium fluid, and was attached to a heart monitor. After the hospitalization and following the orders for the procedures, Ostlyn is required to attend Physical Therapy at Colorado Springs Children’s once a week for a year to assist with bodily functions that accompany constipation. She has been assessed for Toe Walking and Low Tone in the lower half of her body, and toilet training has been postponed until corrections and comfortability are managed. The therapy helps reduce trauma around using the bathroom, reduce her Toe-Walking which has become a self soothing habit to relieve pressure on her abdomen during flare ups, and allows her to rebuild strength in her abdomen for pushing stool when needed.

These appointments require travel, often two to three hours away, which means frequent long drives each month and time away from work to manage her care.

She also has occasional unexpected ER and urgent care visits related to her condition, along with daily medications that are part of her ongoing care.

On 04/01/2026, Ostlyn will be undergoing three procedures under anesthesia to help determine next steps in her on ongoing medical care.

While insurance covers a portion of her medical needs, there are still many out-of-pocket expenses, including copays, travel costs, food during appointments, medications, and therapy-related costs. These ongoing expenses add up over time.

I started this fundraiser to help ease some of those financial costs so Angel can continue focusing on Ostlyn’s care and appointments.

Funds raised will go toward:
• Medical copays and procedures
• ER and urgent care visits as needed
• Daily medications
• Travel expenses (gas, food, lodging if needed)
• Ongoing physical therapy
• Additional medical-related expenses as they come up

Any support is appreciated, whether that’s a donation or sharing this page. Thank you for taking the time to read and support Ostlyn’s health journey.
