Support Osmani’s fight to reunite with his family

One morning in early January, Osmani had just finished dropping his 8-year-old son off at the bus stop when his car was surrounded on all sides by immigration officials and he was detained, leaving his vehicle abandoned. His wife did not hear from him until that evening, when he called her from the detention center. He was not given time to tell her where the vehicle was located, so she had to search the area until it was found.

Now the family is waiting for a hearing to determine if Osmani will be released, but they may face up to $10,000 in legal fees if he is able to come home. Meanwhile, his wife is working as many shifts as possible, but does not have enough hours to cover their rent, food, transportation, and childcare costs while Osmani is detained. While his wife and young son look forward to hearing from him, phone calls from the detention center cost $7 per minute. Osmani must also purchase basic needs like toothpaste and deodorant from an expensive commissary.

Any support will be used for rent, food, transportation, and legal fees as Osmani’s wife fights to bring him home.

Apoya la lucha de Osmani para reunirse con su familia

Una mañana a principios de enero, Osmani acababa de dejar a su hijo de 8 años en la parada del autobús cuando su coche fue rodeado por agentes de inmigración y fue detenido, dejando su vehículo abandonado. Su esposa no supo nada de él hasta esa noche, cuando la llamó desde el centro de detención. No le dieron tiempo para decirle dónde estaba el coche, así que ella tuvo que buscarlo hasta encontrarlo.

Ahora la familia está esperando una audiencia para determinar si Osmani será liberado, pero podrían tener que pagar hasta 10.000 dólares en honorarios legales si logra regresar a casa. Mientras tanto, su esposa trabaja tantas horas como puede, pero no gana lo suficiente para cubrir el alquiler, la comida, el transporte y los gastos de cuidado de su hijo mientras Osmani está detenido.
