My name is Lorena Moreno, the only daughter of Orlando Moreno, who is currently going through a very difficult time due to serious health issues. We live alone, and my father only has me to take care of him and support him through this hard moment. He is diabetic, and recently, his life changed completely.

It all started with a small blister on his foot from his shoe while riding his bike. Because his blood sugar was high, the wound wouldn’t heal and began to get worse. On June 28th, he was hospitalized for a week and sent home with a 15-day course of antibiotics. A nurse came to clean the wound at home, but it didn’t improve.

Soon after, he began experiencing severe pain, stabbing sensations, and tremors. He tried to hold off going back to the doctor to avoid missing more work days, as he had already used all his time off during his hospitalization. From one day to the next, the wound and the area around it turned black.

He returned to the hospital, and that same day, they amputated his big toe due to a severe infection caused by a bacteria that had reached the bone and was threatening his kidneys and lungs. Tests confirmed it was an aggressive bacteria that attacks from the inside. Two days later, he underwent another surgery to amputate the remaining toes and part of his foot to stop the infection.

He is now in recovery, with a vacuum device connected to the wound to remove damaged tissue and help it regenerate and close. He won’t be able to work for several months, as losing his toes has affected his balance, and he will need physical therapy to walk again.

Any help you can give us will be a tremendous support to cover his medical expenses, therapy, and basic needs during this difficult time. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story and for your support.
