My good friend, 5 star wedding DJ, and incredible human, David has been hosting e-Dance parties online in order for people to get some relief from the confinement of quarantine. He does this from his house using his work equipment to stream himself DJing bringing joy to people and turning their living room floors into dance floors.
After yet another amazing Quarantunes Dance Party, we all went to sleep happy and fulfilled. During the night David’s garage was broken into and all of his DJ equipment, photo booths and audio gear WAS STOLEN. As a professional wedding DJ, Covid-19 has already made the future unclear for anyone in the hospitality/entertainment industry and to add the loss of his equipment is unfathomable.
The hardest part for me, as his friend, in hearing this was knowing that this happened to one of the nicest, genuine, kind hearted and caring people I have ever met. David was going out of his way, spending days setting up and prepping playlists for the free dance parties he would normally be paid a premium for. He shared his love for music and community from his home and brought people together in an unprecedented time of crisis.
I have had the honor of watching David grow from a friend with a passion to a sought after Wedding, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Event DJ who has honed his craft and poured his soul into it every single day since he first started. He put not only his heart, but his wallet into his business and as a small business owner will now have to deal with the loss of all his hard work.
This fundraiser is not to replace all of the equipment, and the van, that was stolen (estimated around 30k); hopefully, insurance will be able to provide relief in that regard. This is to support an incredible human who shared joy with others and to hopefully fund some small equipment purchases and help with any other expenses during these crazy times.
While we are all sheltering during this time I would challenge you to think of something you may be going without right now like Starbucks, or cocktails, that was a small daily expense in your life before Covid and, at the very least, think of donating one of those daily expense amounts to support a human who gave so many days of support to those around him.
If you're lucky enough to have a job in these crazy times and can afford to lend a hand and humanity to a wonderful human I would please ask that you do so.
Thank you and stay healthy!
