Support Opal's Fight Against ARFID
Donation protected
Opal Trimm, 10, has been in and out of hospitals and treatment centers for the last year with malnutrition from a childhood eating disorder called ARFID (I had to look it up, too).
Opal loves her red-haired hamster Gingerale and rabbit Tinsley. She expresses her creativity through making 3-D art with air dry clay, intricate bracelets, and fairy houses out of things she finds in nature. Opal is also a true animal whisperer. From training the chipmunks to do tricks at Lake Kachess, to creating a 'snail circus' with her twin sister Zoey and 67 snails, to literally high-fiving a bumble bee, her connection with animals astounds those lucky enough to witness it.
Opal's parents and my dear friends, Hayes and Sarah, have been juggling Opal's treatment with maintaining care and stability for Zoey. It’s been a tough year for the Trimm family. Job loss, multiple hospitalizations, and now Opal’s treatment that will last months.
Managing a 10-year-old's residential care is no small thing. The appointments with doctors, dietitians, therapists, and psychiatrists are seemingly endless. Can you please help this kind, funny, loving kiddo get the care she needs? Hayes and Sarah don't want to ask for help, but I will on their behalf.
I once interviewed a doctor who told me an eating disorder is one of the hardest conditions to treat. I appreciate whatever you can contribute to help this sweet kid get care.
