Hello! My name is Lauryn,
I am creating this due to major unforeseen circumstances that has occurred within our little family recently.
I have an 8 year old boy named Onyx. In the middle of April, Onyx was struggling to urinate. When we had initially taken him to the vet, they ran a few tests and initially diagnosed him with FLUTD. That bill was around $1.2k. A couple of days pass and we noticed he still wasn’t urinating, we brought him back which is where the first blockage was discovered. We ultimately decided to hospitalize him through the weekend to monitor him, keep him on fluids, and a catheter to flush his bladder out, which wound up costing us $2k.
A few days ago, we noticed he stopped using his litter box again, we brought him back in where they discovered another blockage. We got him unblocked and have decided to move forward with what is called a PU surgery, which holds a high success rate. This surgery is very important as it will essentially expand his urethra to help him use the restroom and prevent further blocking in the future.
The estimate for this surgery our vet has given us will be around $4k - $5k. I do not have the paperwork yet to show at this moment, once I have it, I can present it. This has been an incredibly difficult time between trying to afford the care he needs whilst also keeping up with our bills.
I have had Onyx since the day he took his first breath, he is my best friend, and has been here with me through everything. He is currently being medicated and is able to relax, climb, play, eat, drink, and sleep.
We absolutely appreciate anything and we thank you all so much for what you have done for us so far.
