Omar’s direct words: To the people of our Ummah, to those with compassionate hearts, and to everyone who is able to lend a helping hand to those exhausted by war and hardship...
My name is Omar Marwan Abu Odeh. I am a young Palestinian from Gaza who graduated from high school with a 98% average in the scientific stream. Since childhood, my dream has been to study Medicine and become a doctor.
I dreamed of beginning my university education and studying Medicine abroad, but the war and the closure of the crossings prevented me from traveling. I was also unable to enroll in online education at universities in Gaza because my family does not have enough money to cover the high cost of studying Medicine.
Dear people of kindness...
If you have come across my story, I hope you will not simply pass by it. Any help, no matter how small, can make a real difference in our lives.
I want to help my mother, provide my family with our basic needs, get the medical treatment she needs, and pay for my education at a university in Gaza.
One of the things that hurts me most is finding myself deprived of education, even though I worked hard and graduated with a 98% average.
I do not want the war and poverty to take away the years of education I worked so hard for, or the dream I have carried since childhood.
Studying Medicine is not simply a degree to me; it is the dream that gives me the strength to endure the pain of life.
I dream of becoming a doctor who helps patients and eases their suffering as much as I can.
I love help for everyone, and I cannot bear to see someone sick, exhausted, or in pain without being able to help.
People of our Ummah, people of kindness and mercy, please help me hold on to my dream and help my family overcome these difficult circumstances.
What may seem like a small contribution to you could be the path that brings me back to the classroom and gives my family and me a chance to keep going.
Your support could help us with our basic needs and, most importantly, give me the opportunity to continue my education and work toward becoming the doctor I have dreamed of being since childhood.
May Allah reward every hand that reaches out to help, every heart that feels our pain, and every person who contributes to easing even a small part of our suffering.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Even if you cannot contribute, sharing my story with others can help it reach someone who may be able to help.
May Allah bless you and your families, and reward you for every act of kindness.

I met Omar through a language learning program. Our plan is to send the funds to an intermediary with PayPal. He and his brother know several people with access to PayPal who take some commission but as there is no typical way to directly wire money to Gaza, PayPal makes the most sense.
