I am Alicia Barnes, mother of a Warrior; Omari.
Omari is a vibrant, intelligent, and courageous 11-year-old who has been living with Sickle Cell Disease since birth. Despite the challenges that come with this condition, he continues to smile, dream big, and inspire everyone around him. Recently, we received heartbreaking news: Omari has been diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) — a serious and painful complication of sickle cell that causes bone tissue to die due to lack of blood flow, especially in the hips and joints.
This diagnosis means that Omari is now facing more chronic pain, limited mobility, and possibly future surgeries or procedures like joint replacement — at such a young age.
whilst Omari has insurance- it does not cover life cost and all that comes with fighting this disease.
